Rani Lakshmibai: The Brave Queen

Hello. My name is Rani Lakshmibai, but when I was a little girl, my name was Manu. I lived a long, long time ago, back in the 1830s. I was not like other girls. I loved to be outside and play. I learned to ride horses and I loved feeling the wind as I rode fast. I also learned how to be strong and brave. My father taught me that girls could be just as strong as boys. I practiced every day and grew into a confident and active girl who was ready for anything.

When I grew up, my life changed in a very special way. In the year 1842, I married a kind king. His name was Gangadhar Rao Newalkar. When I married him, I became the queen of a beautiful kingdom called Jhansi. Being the queen was a very important job. I loved my home in Jhansi, and I loved all of the people who lived there. I knew that my biggest job was to take care of them and make sure they were always safe and happy. I promised to always protect my kingdom and be a good queen for everyone.

One day, some people came who wanted to take our kingdom away from us. This made me feel sad, but I knew I had to be very brave. During the Indian Rebellion in 1857, I led my people to protect our home. I rode my horse and showed everyone how to be strong and not give up. I lived a full life, and I am happy that I stood up for my home. Today, people all over the world remember me. They tell my story to show that it is important to have courage. I hope my story inspires you to be brave and always stand up for what you believe is right.
