Just want Sir Walter Scott?
Hello there! My name is Walter Scott. I was born a long time ago, on August 15th, 1771, in a beautiful city called Edinburgh, in Scotland. When I was a little boy, I got sick with something called polio, which made one of my legs weaker than the other. I couldn't run and play like the other children, so I spent my time doing something else I loved: reading! I would curl up with books about brave knights, magical creatures, and the exciting history of my country. I also loved listening to my family tell old Scottish tales and legends. These stories filled my imagination with adventure!
As I grew up, my love for stories grew even bigger. I became a lawyer, but my favorite thing to do was travel around the countryside. I would ride my pony through the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders, talking to everyone I met. I asked them to share the old songs and poems they knew—stories that had been passed down for hundreds of years. I carefully wrote them all down so they would never be forgotten. In 1802, I put them all together in a book called *Minstrelsy of the Scottish Border* for everyone to enjoy.
After collecting so many wonderful tales, I decided to write my own! First, I wrote long poems about Scottish heroes and epic battles. My poem *The Lay of the Last Minstrel*, which I wrote in 1805, became a huge hit! Then, I started writing novels, which are like extra-long stories. My first one, *Waverley*, came out in 1814 and was about adventures in Scotland. Maybe you've heard of another one of my books, *Ivanhoe*? I wrote it in 1820, and it's all about knights in shining armor, jousting tournaments, and castles in England. People loved my stories, and soon I became one of the most famous writers in the world.

With the money I earned from my books, I built my dream home and called it Abbotsford. It looked just like a castle from one of my stories! I filled it with amazing things I had collected, like old armor, swords, and a huge library of books. It was my very own magical place. In 1820, I was given a great honor. The king made me a knight, so from then on, people called me Sir Walter Scott. It felt like I had become one of the heroes from my own books!
I wrote stories for my whole life, sharing my love for history and adventure with the world. I lived to be 61 years old, and my imagination was full of tales right up to the very end. Today, people still read my books and visit my home, Abbotsford. I am remembered as the person who helped invent the historical novel, mixing real history with exciting stories. I hope my tales still make you feel like you're on a grand adventure back in time.
