Just want Vinton Cerf?
Hello! My name is Vinton Cerf, but you can call me Vint. I was born on June 23rd, 1943. A lot of people call me one of the 'Fathers of the Internet.' That sounds like a very big title, but really, I am just someone who has always been curious about how things work. When I was a boy, I loved math and science. My favorite thing to do was solve tricky puzzles and figure out how different parts could work together to make something new.
Can you imagine a world with no internet? When I was in college in the 1960s, that is how it was! We had computers, but they were not like the ones you have today. They were huge, room-sized machines, and they could not talk to each other. I started working on a project called ARPANET, which was a special network that connected a few computers at different universities. It was very exciting, but we had a big problem. How could we get all the different kinds of computers in the world to share information with each other?
I teamed up with my good friend and fellow scientist, Bob Kahn, to solve this puzzle. We knew we needed to invent a universal language that all computers could understand, no matter who made them or where they were. So, in 1974, we created a set of rules called TCP/IP. Think of it like a mail system for computers! It takes a big message, like a photo or a video, and breaks it into tiny digital 'postcards.' It puts an address on each one and sends them on their way. At the other end, another computer gathers all the postcards and puts the message back together perfectly. This was the key to creating the internet!

Because of that special language, you can now send emails, watch videos, and play games with friends all over the world. I still work today to help make the internet a safe, useful, and fun place for everyone. I am so proud to see how it connects people and helps them learn and create new things. The internet is a tool for sharing your brilliant ideas with others. I can't wait to see what amazing ideas you will share with the world using the internet!
