I am a very, very old story. A long, long time ago, way back in the 2nd millennium BCE, some people called the Babylonians lived in a land called Mesopotamia. Every night, they would lie on their backs and look up at the sky. They saw the bright sun go to sleep and the soft, glowing moon wake up. They watched the twinkling planets dance between the star pictures. They called these special star pictures the zodiac. The Babylonians thought I was like a secret map. They believed I could help them know when it was time to plant yummy food and tell them stories about the world around them. I helped them feel close to the big, beautiful sky.

My story was so much fun that it traveled to faraway places, like a game of telephone. It went all the way to a place called ancient Greece. As more time passed, people made a special star picture for everyone. They made one for every birthday month. Does your birthday have a special star picture. Today, lots of people still think it is fun to find their 'star sign' and read the happy stories about themselves.
