The story

The Story of A Christmas Carol

I am a feeling in the air when Christmas is near. I am the sound of happy bells ringing. I am the glow of warm, twinkly lights. I am a story about a grumpy man whose heart was as cold as a snowman. But magical visitors came to help him. They were not spooky, but full of wonder. They came to make his heart warm and happy. I am a story full of Christmas magic, waiting to be told by a cozy fire.

I am the story of A Christmas Carol. A kind man with a big imagination, named Charles Dickens, made me. He used a pen and ink to write my words. He created me a long, long time ago in a big city called London. It was the year 1843. He wanted to tell everyone that being kind is the best gift of all. He wrote me very fast because he was so excited to share my story with the world. He wanted everyone to know that sharing makes you feel happy inside.

I was ready for families to read on a special day, December 19th, 1843. Families snuggled together to read my words. They met the grumpy Ebenezer Scrooge. They watched as the magical visitors helped his heart grow big and warm. Everyone cheered when Scrooge learned to be kind. He learned to say, 'Merry Christmas.' to everyone he met. Today, people still read me and watch movies about my story. I help everyone remember that being kind and sharing with others is the best part of Christmas. I am a little book with a very big, warm heart.
