Just want Heidi?
I have special pages that feel like smooth leaves. When you open me up, you can almost smell the tall pine trees and see bright white snow on top of the big mountains. You can hear happy little bells jingling, ting-a-ling, from fluffy goats playing in sunny green fields. Giggle, giggle. That's the sound of a happy little girl tucked inside my story. She loves her mountain home more than anything. I hold all her sunshine and her smiles for you to find. I am a world of adventure waiting for you.
Hello. I am the story of Heidi. A very kind woman named Johanna Spyri wrote my words a long, long time ago, on January 1st, 1880. She wanted to share a story about a happy girl who lived high, high up in the Swiss Alps. That girl is Heidi. She lives with her wonderful Grandfather in a cozy little cabin. They drink yummy goat's milk and eat toasted cheese over the fire. Heidi's best friend is a boy named Peter. He takes care of all the goats. Heidi and Peter run and play in the meadows all day long. They love listening to the wind whistle through the fir trees and watching the eagles fly in the big blue sky.
One day, Heidi had to go on a trip. She went to a big city called Frankfurt. It was very different from her mountain home. There, she became a friend for a girl named Klara. Klara couldn't walk, so she used a special chair to move around. Heidi was a very good friend. She made Klara smile and laugh. But Heidi missed her Grandfather and her mountains very, very much.
People loved to read my story. When they turned my pages, they felt like they were in the mountains with Heidi. They could feel the warm sun and smell the pretty flowers. I show everyone that being a kind friend and loving the big, beautiful world outside makes your heart happy. My pages are always open, waiting to share my mountain adventure with you. Come say hello to Heidi.
