The story

I Am Manga

Look at me. I am full of lines and dots. I have big, bright, shiny eyes that sparkle and shine. In my pages, I can be a brave hero who saves the day. I can be a silly, talking cat who goes on funny trips. I can be anything you can dream of. Do you know who I am? I am Manga. I am a special way to tell stories with pictures that pop right off the page and say hello.

My story began a long, long time ago. So long ago, it was in the 12th century in a place called Japan. Artists drew funny animals doing silly things on long paper scrolls. It was like a very long, playful picture. Many years later, around 1814, an artist named Hokusai gave me my name. He called me Manga. That means 'playful pictures.' Then, starting in the 1940s, a kind man named Osamu Tezuka helped me grow. He gave my characters their big, shiny eyes and sent them on amazing adventures. He helped make me the friend you know today.

Now, I live everywhere. You can find me in colorful books with pages that you can turn. You can see me on bright screens that glow with light. My stories are for everyone, all over the world. I love to tell stories about being a good friend. I love to show you how to be brave, even when you feel small. I am a whole world of pictures and fun. So, whenever you see a story with big, sparkly eyes and exciting pictures, that’s me. I am Manga, and I’m inviting you to come and play.
