Just want Sinulog - Filipino?
Hello! I am Sinulog. I am a big, happy festival that takes place in a city called Cebu, in a country called the Philippines. People gather to celebrate me every year. My celebration is a special way to honor a figure of the child Jesus. This figure is called the Santo Niño. My name, Sinulog, comes from a word that means something is flowing, just like a gentle river. It's a name that helps describe a very special dance.
During my festival, people do this special dance. It is not a fast dance. The dancers take two small steps forward, and then they take one small step back. Over and over, they move forward and back. Their movements look like the gentle waves of water moving in a river or the sea. Many dancers hold a small statue of the Santo Niño in their hands while they dance. This is how they show their respect. The dance is a beautiful and important part of how people celebrate me.
My celebration is full of exciting things to see and hear. The streets are filled with bright, wonderful colors. People wear amazing costumes that are decorated with soft feathers and shiny beads. You can see every color of the rainbow! There is also loud and happy music. You can hear the big sound of drums beating a rhythm for the dancers. As people watch the big parade, they cheer and shout a special phrase. They call out, "Viva Pit Señor!" It is a happy sound that fills the air. Today, people celebrate me with dancing, music, and joy.
