Just want Marya Morevna?
My armies command the fields, and my tent of white linen stands as a beacon of my strength. My name is Marya Morevna, and I am a warrior queen, but even queens can be captured by darkness if a promise is broken. My story is about a forbidden secret, a brave prince, and a love that had to face an immortal evil in the tale known as The Death of Koschei the Deathless. It all began when a handsome prince, Ivan Tsarevich, arrived in my lands. Amidst the clashing of swords and the flutter of our banners, we fell in love and were soon married. For a time, our kingdom knew nothing but joy and peace, but a shadow from my past lingered, locked away.
One day, the call of battle came, and I had to ride off to war. I left my beloved Ivan in charge of our palace, giving him the keys to every room and treasure chest. "You may go anywhere and see everything," I told him, my voice serious. "But there is one place you must never enter." I pointed to a small, dusty closet in the deepest part of the castle and made him promise he would never, ever open it. But what do you think happens when something is forbidden? Curiosity is a powerful, creeping vine. Days turned into weeks, and Ivan could not stop thinking about that one locked door. What could be so important inside? Finally, he couldn't resist any longer. He turned the key, the lock clicked loudly in the silence, and the heavy door groaned open. Inside, he found a shriveled, withered old man hanging from the wall, bound by twelve heavy iron chains. This was Koschei the Deathless, an evil sorcerer I had captured long ago. "Water," Koschei rasped, his voice like dry leaves skittering across stone. "Give me a drink. I have not tasted a drop in ten long years." Feeling a surge of pity for the pathetic figure, Ivan brought him a bucket of water. With one gulp, a flicker of strength returned to Koschei. Ivan brought another, and the sorcerer's shoulders straightened. When Ivan brought a third bucket, Koschei roared with power. His full magical might flooded back into him, and with a tremendous crash, he shattered all twelve chains. He transformed into a dark whirlwind, spun through the room, and flew out the window, his cruel laughter echoing back. "You have freed me, foolish prince. And now I will capture your warrior queen, Marya Morevna!"

Just as the sorcerer had cackled, he found me on the battlefield. The dark whirlwind swept me from my horse and carried me away to his dreadful kingdom, a place beyond the thrice-ninth land in the thirtieth kingdom. When Ivan learned what his mistake had caused, he was crushed by shame, but that shame quickly hardened into fiery determination. He vowed he would rescue me, no matter what dangers he had to face. His quest was long and filled with peril. He journeyed through shadowed forests where unseen things watched from the trees and over mountains so high the clouds felt like a cold, wet blanket. Twice, he managed to find my location and tried to escape with me on his horse. But each time, we would hear the thunder of hooves behind us. Koschei's magical horse was faster than the wind itself, and the sorcerer would catch us, mocking Ivan's failure before dragging me back. After the second failed attempt, I managed to whisper a secret to Ivan. "You will never succeed until you have a horse as swift as Koschei's. You must seek out the fearsome witch of the forest, Baba Yaga. Only she can help you." So, Ivan sought out Baba Yaga's strange hut, which stood on giant chicken legs and could spin and run. To earn her help, he had to complete three seemingly impossible tasks, including herding her wild, magical mares. Using his cleverness and his innate kindness to animals, Ivan succeeded where all others had failed. Baba Yaga was so impressed that she gave him a magical steed, a colt that grew into a mighty horse that could gallop across the sky. Then, she leaned in and told him the greatest secret of all: Koschei could not be killed by any normal weapon, because his death was not inside his body.
Baba Yaga explained the incredible secret. "Koschei's death is hidden inside a needle," she croaked. "That needle is inside an egg. The egg is inside a duck. The duck is inside a hare. The hare is locked inside a great iron chest. And that chest is buried deep in the earth at the roots of a giant oak tree on the mythical island of Buyan." Can you imagine such a complicated hiding place? Riding his new magical horse, which moved as fast as a lightning bolt, Ivan journeyed to the distant island. He found the ancient oak and dug for hours until his shovel struck the heavy iron chest. He strained to open the lid, and as he did, a hare leaped out and bolted away in a blur of brown fur. Ivan thought all was lost, but a great wolf he had once shown kindness to appeared and caught the hare in its jaws. From the hare sprang a duck that shot into the sky, but a hawk Ivan had befriended swooped from the clouds and struck it down. The duck dropped the precious egg, and it fell straight into the deep blue sea. Ivan’s heart sank, but then a pike he had once saved swam to the surface and brought the egg to him in its mouth. At last, Ivan held Koschei's death in his hand. He rode to Koschei's dark castle, where he found me. The sorcerer appeared, roaring with fury, but Ivan calmly held up the egg. As Ivan tossed the egg from one hand to the other, Koschei was flung violently from one side of the room to the other. Ivan cracked the egg, found the needle inside, and broke its delicate tip. In that very instant, the so-called 'deathless' Koschei let out a final scream and crumbled into a pile of fine gray dust.
My brave Ivan and I returned to our kingdom, our love and trust made unbreakable by the terrible trials we had faced together. Our story, first told around crackling fires in ancient Slavic lands centuries ago, became a favorite fairy tale passed down from parents to children through countless generations. It is a story that teaches us about the courage it takes to fix our mistakes, the consequences of breaking a promise, and the incredible power of perseverance. The tale of the warrior queen and the immortal sorcerer has inspired artists to paint grand pictures, composers to write powerful music, and storytellers to dream up new adventures. It reminds us that even the darkest evil has a weakness, and that the greatest strength often comes not from magic, but from a brave and loving heart. It is a message that continues to capture our imaginations to this very day.
