The story

Poseidon Creates the Horse

Deep, deep, deep in the sparkly blue sea lived a king. His name was Poseidon, and he was the king of the whole ocean. He could talk to the fish and make big waves splash. This is the story of a wonderful gift Poseidon made for the world. It is the story of how Poseidon Created the Horse.

Long ago, there was a new city on a sunny hill. The city needed a special friend. The wise goddess Athena and mighty Poseidon both wanted to give the city the best gift. First, Athena tapped the ground. Pop. A beautiful olive tree grew with shiny leaves. It was a good gift. Then, it was Poseidon's turn. He held his big, pointy trident and struck a rock. WHOOSH. SPLASH. A big wave of sea foam washed onto the land. Out of the bubbly white foam leaped a beautiful, new animal.

What a wonderful animal it was. It had a long mane that looked like ocean waves. Its coat was as white as the sea foam. It could run very, very fast, just like the wind. It was the first horse. The people in the city loved Athena’s tree, and they loved Poseidon's horse, too. The strong, fast horse became a friend to everyone. It helped people travel and play. It was a gift from the king of the sea.
