Just want Chagga people?
Hello! We are the Chagga people. We want to tell you about our home, a very special place in Africa. We live on a very big mountain. Its name is Mount Kilimanjaro. We build our homes on the green slopes of this beautiful mountain. The slopes are the sides of the mountain, and they are covered with green plants and trees. The mountain gives us a wonderful gift. It gives us very good soil. Because the soil is so good, we can grow lots of food for our families to eat.
We are great farmers, and we love working in our gardens. Each family has a special home garden that we call a kihamba. In our kihamba, we grow many tasty things. We grow yummy bananas that are sweet and delicious. We also grow coffee beans in our gardens. From the bananas we grow, we know how to make a special banana drink. Our gardens give us plenty of food and things we can use every day.
Our families are very important to us. A long time ago, our homes looked different from our homes today. Our old-style homes were shaped to look like big beehives. Today, our homes are built in new ways. But one thing has stayed the same: we, the Chagga people, still live on our mountain. Mount Kilimanjaro is our home. We love to share our culture with others by singing our songs and telling our stories. It is a happy way to remember our traditions.
