Just want Mbuti people?
Hello! We are the Mbuti people. Our home is a wonderful, green place called the Ituri Rainforest. It is in Africa. The forest is big, with tall trees all around us. We believe the forest is like a kind parent. It gives us yummy food to eat and fresh water to drink. The forest gives us everything we need to live.
We build our cozy homes using things the forest gives us. We gather strong branches and many big leaves. We bend the branches to make a round shape and cover them with the leaves. Our special homes are called mongulus. They are round and keep us safe and dry from the rain. When we need to find more food, we pack up our things. We walk to a new place in the forest and build new homes there.
We love our forest, and we love to sing to it! Singing and dancing are a big part of our life every day. We sing to be happy together. We sing our special songs to tell stories that our families have known for a long time. Our songs are also a way for us to say thank you to the forest for taking such good care of us. Singing together makes our hearts feel happy.
Today, we are still here. We, the Mbuti people, still live in our forest home. It is very important for us to teach our children our special ways. We teach them our songs and our stories. We show them how to live with the forest and care for it, just as our families have done for a very long time.
