Just want Alhambra?
I sit high on a hill in Spain, like a sleepy red giant. My walls blush the color of a sunset. If you listen closely, you can hear my fountains whispering secrets and my gardens smelling of sweet flowers. People say my name means “The Red One.” I am the Alhambra.
A long, long time ago, starting around the year 1238, special rulers decided to build me. They wanted a palace that looked like it was made of dreams. Artists came and carved my walls to look like fancy lace. They put shiny, colorful tiles on my walls and floors, like a giant puzzle. In my courtyards, lions made of stone spray water to keep me cool and happy.
After many years, on January 2nd, 1492, a new king and queen came to live with me. They loved me and took good care of me, too. Much later, a writer came to visit and wrote a book all about my magical stories. Now, friends from all over the world come to walk through my rooms and gardens. I love sharing my beauty and whispering my stories to everyone who visits.
