The story

A Story from the Land of Egypt

Imagine a place where the sun feels warm on your face and golden sand squishes between your toes. A long, sparkling river wiggles through the land like a big green ribbon. All around, you can see pointy, triangle-shaped houses that reach high up to touch the sky. They are very, very big. Do you know where you are? Hello. I am the land of Egypt.

I have so many stories to tell you from a long, long time ago. Around the year 3100 BCE, I became one big, happy country. I was a home for special kings and queens called pharaohs. The pharaohs built amazing things that you can still see today. Around the year 2560 BCE, they built giant, pointy homes for themselves called pyramids. So many friendly workers used millions of heavy stone blocks, working together to build them super tall, like stacking blocks all the way to the sun. I loved watching them. Inside the pyramids, they drew beautiful picture-stories on the walls. These pictures are called hieroglyphs, and they tell everyone all about their lives from long ago.

I have a special friend called the Nile River. My river has always helped people grow yummy food to eat and sail their boats to visit their friends. I am still a busy, happy place today. I have big cities where children laugh and play. In the year 1869, I helped build a special shortcut for boats called the Suez Canal so they could travel faster. Today, I love to share my sunny home and all my amazing stories with friends from all over the world. They come to visit my pyramids and say hello, and I am always happy to see them.
