Just want Himeji Castle?
I stand tall on a hill in a country called Japan. My walls are as white as a bird's feathers against the bright blue sky, and my many roofs are layered on top of each other like a fancy cake. When the sun shines on me, I gleam so brightly that people stop to look. They say I look graceful and proud. I am Himeji Castle, but people often call me the White Heron Castle because they say I look like a beautiful white bird getting ready to take flight.
My story began a very, very long time ago. In the year 1333, a brave samurai named Akamatsu Norimura built a small fort right on this spot. It wasn't very big, but it was a strong and safe place. For many years, I was just a small fort. Then, in the late 1500s, another famous leader named Toyotomi Hideyoshi arrived. He saw that I could be much bigger and stronger, so he added more walls and towers to me. I was growing up.
My biggest and most beautiful transformation came from a kind and powerful lord named Ikeda Terumasa. He wanted to make me into the magnificent castle everyone sees today. His builders worked very hard for many years, finally finishing my main tower in the year 1609. They were so clever. They built my paths in a winding maze to confuse any enemies who tried to attack. They also covered my strong stone walls with a special shiny white plaster. It wasn't just to make me beautiful. The plaster also protected me from fire. I felt so proud and strong standing on my hill, ready to protect everyone inside.
Unlike many other castles in Japan, I have been very lucky. I was never destroyed in big battles or burned down in fires. I have stood here peacefully for over 400 years. Because I am so special and have stayed the same for so long, something wonderful happened. On December 11th, 1993, I was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. That means I am a treasure for the whole world to protect and enjoy.

Today, my gates are open for everyone. Samurai don't walk my halls anymore. Instead, friends and families from all over the world come to visit me. They walk my winding paths and climb my tall wooden stairs to see the amazing view from the top. I love sharing my story of strength and beauty. I hope I remind everyone that things built with care can last for a very, very long time and bring joy to people for centuries.
