The story

Feeling Disappointed

Hi there. My name is Disappointment. I'm the feeling you get when something you hoped for doesn't happen. Maybe your playdate gets canceled because of rain, or you don't get the toy you really, really wanted. I can make you feel heavy and sad, like a big sigh.

When I show up, it's okay to feel sad for a bit. It just means you cared. When a girl named Maya didn't get picked for the soccer team, she felt me visit. She cried a little, but then she talked to her dad. They decided to practice together in the park every Saturday, and trying again made her feel strong and hopeful for the next time. I learned that even though I feel heavy, I don't have to stay forever. Trying again is a great way to feel better.
