Just want Fight-or-Flight Response?
Hi there. My name is Fight-or-Flight. I am a special helper inside you that wakes up when you feel surprised or scared. I am the feeling that makes you want to run super fast. Sometimes, I make you want to stand very, very still.
When you see something that startles you, like a big dog barking loudly, I get to work. I make your heart beat thump-thump-thump, just like a drum. This gets your body ready to either run away from the dog. That is called 'flight'. Or it helps you be brave and stand your ground. That is called 'fight'.
Once the scary thing is gone, my job is done. I help you take a big, deep breath and feel calm again. It is okay when I show up because I am here to keep you safe. I am your body’s superpower.
