The Story of Jealousy

Hi there. You’ve probably met me before. I’m that hot, prickly feeling that bubbles up in your chest when you’re afraid of losing something, or someone, very important to you. I am the feeling of jealousy, and I show up when you see your best friend sharing a secret with someone new.

My story often starts with a twist in your stomach, like it did for Leo on the 2nd day of soccer camp when his best friend, Sam, scored a goal with the new kid. At first, I made Leo want to ignore Sam. But then, Leo took a deep breath and remembered I’m just a signal. He told Sam, “I missed playing with you today.” Sam understood, and the next day, the three of them practiced together. I wasn’t a monster; I was just a messenger trying to say, “This friendship matters to you!” Learning to listen to me helps you understand what you care about most. I learned that my purpose isn't to cause trouble, but to highlight what truly matters.
