I am Patience

Hi there. My name is Patience. I am the quiet, calm feeling you get when you have to wait for something. I am learning to be patient. I can help when you're waiting for your turn on the swings, for a cookie to finish baking, or for a tiny seed to grow into a big flower.

Sometimes, waiting can make you feel all wiggly and squirmy inside. It’s hard to wait for your birthday to arrive or for a friend to finish their turn with a toy you really want. When you feel that way, it just means I haven't arrived yet. But I can help you take a deep breath and make the waiting time feel a little easier and more peaceful.

You can help me grow stronger. When you have to wait, you can try counting to ten, singing a quiet song to yourself, or finding a fun little game to play. Every time you practice waiting calmly, I get bigger and stronger. I help you finish big things, like building a whole puzzle or learning to ride your bike without wobbling.

I continue to help people every day. I help you listen to a whole story without interrupting, work carefully on your drawings, and wait for your turn to talk. By helping you wait, I also help you learn, grow, and be a good friend. I am always here when you need me.
