A Guide to Brushing My Hair
Before I start, I make sure I have the right tool, like a brush with soft bristles or a wide-tooth comb. Brushing my hair is an important step in my day because it gets rid of any tangles that built up while I was sleeping or playing, and it helps my hair look neat and feel smooth.
When I find a knot, I do not just yank the brush from the top of my head. Instead, I gently hold my hair a few inches above the tangle and start brushing just the very ends. This breaks up the knot from the bottom without pulling on my scalp, which can hurt.
Once the ends are smooth, I move my hand up a little higher and brush the next section, always working my way toward my scalp. I do this in small, gentle strokes all around my head. It feels much better than trying to force the brush through a big tangle all at once.
After all the tangles are gone, I do a few final, long strokes from the roots at the top of my head all the way down to the tips. This feels like a nice little scalp massage, and it helps spread my hair's natural oils. These oils are like a built-in conditioner that keeps my hair shiny and healthy.
Brushing my hair every day, especially in the morning and before bed, keeps it from getting big, painful knots. It also keeps my hair clean and strong by spreading those healthy oils. Taking a few minutes to brush makes me feel put-together and ready for the day.
