My Guide to Playing Outside

When I want to play outside, I have a few simple steps to get ready for fun. The very first thing I always do is ask a grown-up for permission. This is the most important step because it helps me know it’s a safe time to go out. Once they say yes, I think about what to wear. I look outside to check the weather. If it’s a sunny day, I might pick a hat to keep the sun out of my eyes. If it’s cold, I’ll choose a warm coat so I can stay comfortable while I play. The final step before I open the door is putting on sunscreen. I make sure to cover my skin carefully. Sunscreen works like a special shield that protects my body from the sun’s rays, keeping my skin safe while I enjoy my time outdoors.

Playing outside makes my body feel great. I love to move around by running, jumping, and climbing on the playground. All of this movement helps make my muscles strong and my heart healthy. Being outdoors is also a great time to use my senses to explore nature. Sometimes I stand still and listen for birds singing in the trees, or I might gently touch the bumpy trunk of a tree to feel its texture. When I am outside, the sun gives my body something special called Vitamin D, which is very important because it helps my bones grow strong and healthy. Playing outside helps me feel happy and gives me lots of energy. It is also a wonderful way for me to have fun with my friends and family, sharing games and adventures together in the fresh air.
