Just want Komodo Dragon?
Hello there. I am a Komodo dragon, and I am the biggest lizard in the whole wide world. Isn't that neat? I live on sunny, warm islands in a place called Indonesia. The sun feels so nice on my skin. I love my home very much because it is the perfect place for a big lizard like me to walk around and explore all day long.
I have a big, strong body with bumpy, scaly skin that helps keep me safe. I also have a very long tail. When I walk, my tail goes swish, swish, swish behind me. But the most special thing about me is my long, yellow tongue. It splits into two little parts at the end, like a fork. I flick my tongue in and out all day. Flick, flick, flick. When I do that, I am tasting the air. It sounds silly, but tasting the air helps me smell everything around me. It tells me if a yummy snack is hiding nearby. My tongue is my super smeller.
On my island, I am the biggest animal. Being the biggest means I have a very important job to do. As a top hunter, I help make sure there are not too many of any one kind of animal. This keeps my island home healthy and balanced for everyone who lives here. I am very proud to be a Komodo dragon and to help take care of my home. My story matters because I show how every animal, big or small, has a special role to play in the world.
