Just want Claude Shannon?
Hello! My name is Claude Shannon. I was born a long, long time ago, in the year 1916. When I was a little boy, I loved to build things and figure out how they worked. I made model airplanes that could fly. I even built a telegraph so I could send secret messages to my friend's house! I thought puzzles were the best kind of fun.
When I grew up, I had a very big idea. In the year 1948, I realized that all kinds of information—like pictures, words, and sounds—could be turned into a simple code, kind of like a secret message. This idea helped people build the first computers! I also loved making silly machines. I made a little mouse that could solve a maze all by itself and machines that could juggle.
I lived to be 84 years old, and my whole life was one big, fun puzzle. People remember me because my ideas about information are used in the computers, phones, and games you use every single day. It all started with being curious!
