The story

Cyrus the Great

Hello! My name is Cyrus, and I was a king a very, very long time ago. I lived in a land called Persia. I got to wear a cool crown and lead many people. Being a king was a big job, but I wanted to be a great king by being a kind one.

My kingdom grew bigger and bigger, like a giant hug around many lands. When I would visit a new town, I did not tell people they had to change. I thought it was wonderful that everyone had their own special songs, stories, and ways to pray. I let everyone keep their own ways. I also helped people who had been taken from their homes. I told them they could go back to their families, which made them very happy.

I lived a long, long time ago. People today still read stories about me. They remember me as a king who believed that being strong and being kind could go together. I showed everyone that a good leader helps people and treats them with respect. It’s always a good time to be kind!
