Diego Maradona

Hello, my name is Diego Maradona, and I am famous for my love of football, which you might call soccer. I was born on October 30th, 1960, in a small town in Argentina. When I was a little boy, I received my very first football as a gift. From that moment on, it was like that ball was my best friend. I took it everywhere with me and practiced all the time. I learned to kick it, bounce it, and make it do whatever I wanted. It felt like the ball and my feet understood each other perfectly, and I knew that football was going to be my life.

When I was a boy, I joined my first football team. We had a funny name, 'Los Cebollitas,' which means 'The Little Onions.' We were an amazing team and we won so many games together. I worked very hard, and in 1976, when I was only 15 years old, I became a professional player. It was a dream come true. People gave me a special nickname, 'El Pibe de Oro,' which means 'The Golden Boy.' For me, there was no feeling in the world like dribbling the ball down the field. It felt magical, like the ball was a part of me, dancing around anyone who tried to take it away.

My biggest dream was to win the World Cup for my country, Argentina. The World Cup is the most important football tournament in the world. In 1986, my dream was put to the test. We played in a very important game against England. During that single match, I scored two of the most famous goals ever. One of them was even called the 'Goal of the Century' because I dribbled past so many players to score. After that game, we went on to win the whole tournament. Lifting the World Cup trophy for Argentina was the most incredible moment, a joy I will never forget.

I continued to play football for many years, playing for teams in different countries around the world. After I stopped playing, I became a coach to help other players learn the game I loved so much. I lived to be 60 years old. Today, people all over the world remember me for bringing so much excitement and happiness to the game of football. My story shows that any kid, no matter where they come from, can achieve their biggest dreams if they have passion and never give up.
