The story

The Story of Giuseppe Verdi

Hello. My name is Giuseppe Verdi. I was born a long, long time ago in Italy. When I was a little boy, I loved music more than anything. I would go to the church and listen to the big organ play. The sounds were so beautiful and loud. They filled my ears and made my heart feel happy. Listening to the music made me dream that one day, I would make my own songs for everyone to hear.

When I grew up, I did make my own music. I wrote special musical stories called operas. Do you know what an opera is? It’s like a big play, but instead of just talking, the people on stage sing everything. They sing when they are happy, and they sing when they are sad. They wear wonderful costumes and stand on a big stage with beautiful scenery. I loved writing songs that told exciting stories. People would come to big, fancy theaters to watch and listen to the music I made. It made me so happy to share my musical stories with them.

I made music for a very long time. I lived to be 87 years old, and my life was full of songs. Even though I am not here anymore, my music lives on. All around the world, people still listen to the operas I wrote a long time ago. The stories I told with my songs can still make people feel happy, or a little sad, or very excited. My music is my special way of sharing big feelings with you and everyone, forever.
