Just want Howard Carter?
Hello, my name is Howard Carter. When I was a little boy, I loved to draw more than anything. I took my sketchbook with me everywhere I went. I brought my pencils and paper to a sunny, faraway place called Egypt. Egypt was so special because it had very old buildings with amazing pictures drawn right on the walls. I loved looking at the beautiful art and learning about the past.
In Egypt, I heard stories about a secret, hidden room. It was a special place that belonged to a boy king named Tutankhamun. People said it was hidden under the sand and full of treasure. My good friend, Lord Carnarvon, wanted to find it with me. We started a big treasure hunt. We looked for the hidden room for a very long time. We dug and dug in the hot sand every day. It was very hard work, but we never, ever gave up.
Then one exciting day in the year 1922, we found something. We found a step hidden under all the sand. The step led us down to a secret door. I was so excited. I made a tiny little hole in the door and held up a candle to see inside. My friend asked, "Can you see anything?". I said back to him, "Yes, wonderful things!". The room was filled with shiny, sparkly golden treasures, all for King Tut.
I lived to be 64 years old. Finding King Tut’s special room was a very important discovery because it was almost untouched. It taught everyone so much about how people lived a long, long time ago in ancient Egypt. People today can still see all the amazing treasures I found, and they continue to tell a wonderful story about the past.
