Just want Ismail al-Jazari?
Hello! My name is Ismail al-Jazari. I lived a very, very long time ago in a beautiful palace in a place that is now part of Turkey. I was an inventor and an artist. My favorite thing to do was build amazing machines that could move all by themselves!
I worked for kind kings and built wonderful things to make them smile. One of my favorites was a giant clock shaped like an elephant! It had robot birds that chirped and dragons that moved to tell everyone the time. I also made a helpful robot that would bring a person soap and a towel to wash their hands, all on its own. It was like magic, but it was really science and art put together.
I didn't want to keep all my fun ideas to myself. So, in the year 1206, I wrote a big, beautiful book. I filled it with colorful drawings and instructions for all my inventions. I called it 'The Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices' so that other people could build amazing machines, too.
I lived a full and happy life, creating and building. My book of ideas traveled all over the world, showing people how to make their own wonderful things. Even today, people call me one of the first robot makers, and I am happy my inventions still bring wonder to the world.
