Just want Manuel Belgrano?
Hello, my name is Manuel Belgrano. I was born a very long time ago, on June 3rd, 1770, in a beautiful city called Buenos Aires. I loved my home and all the people who lived there. Even when I was just a young boy, I had a big dream. I dreamed that one day I would find a way to help my people and make sure they had a happy and wonderful future. I wanted my country to be strong and free, and I knew that helping others was the most important job I could ever have.
When I grew up, I sailed across the big, wide ocean to a country called Spain. It was a long journey, but I was so excited to learn. I went to a special school and studied to become a lawyer. While I was there, I read many books and learned important new ideas about freedom. I learned how people could work together to rule themselves and make their own choices. In 1794, I finished my studies and sailed back home. I couldn't wait to share everything I had learned to help my country grow and become a better place for everyone.
An exciting time began in the year 1810. We called it the May Revolution. For a long time, a king from Spain, who lived far across the ocean, had been ruling our land. But many of us believed it was time for us to govern ourselves. I joined with other leaders who felt the same way, and together, we started working for our freedom. Even though I was a lawyer and not a soldier, I became a general in an army. I did this because I believed so strongly that our people deserved to be free and make their own rules.
Manuel Belgrano: A Flag for My Country

As a general, I noticed something very important was missing. Our soldiers were brave, but they didn't have their own flag to carry into battle. A flag is special because it shows everyone who you are and that you are all part of the same team. So, I had an idea. On February 27th, 1812, I designed a brand new flag for our country. I chose beautiful colors for it: light blue and white, just like the colors of the sky. This new flag made our soldiers feel so proud and united, like one big family working together.
I worked my whole life to help my country gain its freedom. I lived to be 50 years old. Today, the people of Argentina remember me as one of their greatest heroes. The beautiful light blue and white flag that I created so long ago is now the official flag of their country. They fly it high with pride, and it reminds them of the fight for freedom and the importance of working together.
