The story

Mary Shelley

Hello! My name is Mary Shelley. When I was a little girl, I loved stories more than anything. Our house was filled with books from the floor to the ceiling because my mommy and daddy were writers, too! I spent my days reading and daydreaming, making up wonderful adventures in my head. I would imagine magical lands and exciting characters.

One rainy day, my friends and I decided to see who could tell the spookiest story. That night, I had a big dream about a kind scientist who created a creature. My creature was not mean; he was just a little lonely and wanted a friend. I decided to write my dream down, and it became my most famous book, Frankenstein. It is a story about being kind to everyone, no matter how different they might seem.

I loved writing stories my whole life. My book about the creature is still shared all over the world today! I lived to be 53 years old, and I am so happy that my story still reminds everyone to be a good friend and have a big, open heart.
