Just want Pliny the Younger?
Hello, my name is Pliny. I lived a very, very long time ago in a place called Ancient Rome. My favorite thing to do was write letters. I loved to write to my friends and tell them all about my day. I would tell them about all the amazing things I saw in my world.
One day, in the year 79 CE, I saw something very big happen. A giant mountain called Mount Vesuvius began to shake and rumble. It made a loud noise. Then, a huge cloud of gray smoke puffed out of the very top. The cloud went higher and higher into the sky. My uncle, who was also named Pliny, was very brave. He got into his boat to go and help the people who lived near the big, rumbling mountain.
I wanted everyone to remember that day, so I wrote down everything I saw. I put all my words into a special letter. I described the big mountain and the gray cloud so that no one would ever forget what happened. Because I loved writing so much, people can still read my words today. It helps them learn all about my world from long, long ago.
I lived a full life, and I spent a lot of my time writing and helping others. I am so happy that my letters are still here for you to read. They are like little windows into the past. Friends like you can look through them and learn about history right through my eyes.
