The story

Tycho Brahe: The Star Watcher

Hello, my name is Tycho Brahe. When I was a little boy, my most favorite thing to do was look up at the big, dark night sky. I loved seeing all the sparkly stars shining down. Every night, I would go outside and watch them twinkle. It was like a beautiful, sparkling blanket above my head. Looking at the stars made me feel so happy and full of wonder.

One very special night in the year 1572, I looked up and saw something amazing. There was a new star in the sky. It was super bright and shiny, and I had never seen it before. Nobody had. I was so excited. I found something new that was hiding in the stars all along. It felt like I had discovered a secret treasure in the night sky.

Because I loved watching the stars so much, I wanted to see them even better. Around the year 1576, I built a special home just for watching stars. I called it my star castle, and its name was Uraniborg. Inside, I had big tools that helped me look closely at the stars and planets. Every night, I would use my tools to draw maps of everything I saw in the sky.

I spent my whole life making careful drawings of the stars and planets. I lived to be 54 years old. After I was gone, other smart people used my star maps to learn new things about our big universe. People remember me as someone who looked at the sky very carefully and taught everyone else how to watch the stars, too.
