Just want Yongle Emperor?
Hello. My name is Zhu Di, and I was a prince who lived in China a very long time ago. My father was the great Hongwu Emperor. He started a new chapter for our country called the Ming Dynasty. I was born on May 2nd, 1360. From a young age, I learned how to be a strong leader and a brave soldier. It was my job to help protect our people.
When I grew up, it became my turn to lead China. I became the emperor in the year 1402. I chose a new name for myself: Yongle, which means 'Perpetual Happiness.' I had a big dream for our country. I decided to move our main city to a place called Beijing. In 1421, it officially became our new capital. There, I built a giant, beautiful palace for my family and me to live in. We called it the Forbidden City. It had shiny golden roofs that sparkled in the sun and huge walls to keep it safe.
I wanted everyone in the world to know about the wonders of China. So, I asked a brave sailor named Zheng He to lead a giant fleet of ships on amazing adventures. Starting in 1405, his ships, which were called 'treasure ships,' sailed across the oceans to faraway lands. They met new people, traded wonderful gifts, and even brought back exciting animals, like a giraffe. I also wanted to collect all the knowledge in our country. I had scholars create the biggest book in the world at the time, called the 'Yongle Encyclopedia.' It was filled with stories, science, and art.
I also worked hard to make our country safer by strengthening the Great Wall of China. I lived to be 64 years old, and my time as emperor ended in 1424. Today, people remember me for the incredible projects I led. Millions of people visit the Forbidden City in Beijing every year, and the stories of Zheng He's amazing voyages still inspire adventurers. I am proud that I helped share China's greatness with the world.
