Just want Park Güell?
On a sunny hill, I stretch and sparkle. My benches curve and wiggle like a giant, colorful snake covered in shiny, broken tiles. My buildings look like yummy gingerbread houses with swirly rooftops. Everything here is playful and strange, like a dream you can walk through. I am a special place in a city called Barcelona, in Spain. My name is Park Güell.
My maker was a man with a super-big imagination. His name was Antoni Gaudí. He loved looking at things in nature—like twisty tree branches, smooth stones, and colorful flowers. He started building me a long, long time ago, in the year 1900, for his friend Eusebi Güell. They wanted me to be a neighborhood full of magical houses, but I became a park instead. My most famous friend is a happy lizard fountain, covered in bright tiles, who greets everyone at my entrance.
After many years, in 1926, I opened my gates for everyone. Now, children laugh and play on my paths, and families sit on my long, wavy bench to look out at the whole city. I am a place where art and nature hold hands. I show everyone that if you can dream it, you can build a wonderland for the whole world to enjoy.
