Just want Kim Qui?
Deep in the cool, quiet water lived a very special turtle. His shell was shiny and gold, and he swam with a gentle swish of his feet. This is the story of Kim Qui, the Golden Turtle, and how he helped a kind king. The myth is called the Golden Turtle and the Magic Crossbow.
A good king named An Dương Vương wanted to build a big, strong castle to keep his people safe. He tried and tried, but the walls would not stand up. They would go up, up, up, and then wobble, wobble, CRASH! The big stone walls tumbled right down. The king was very sad. His castle was just a pile of wobbly rocks.
The Golden Turtle saw the sad king from his home in the water. He swam up to the top with a little splash! The water glittered around his shiny gold shell. 'Do not worry, dear king!' said the turtle in a kind voice. 'I can help you.' The turtle wiggled his head. 'Try building your walls in a big circle. Round and round, like my shell!'
The king thought that was a wonderful idea. He told his workers, and they started to build again. They put the stones in a big, swirly shape, just like a snail's shell. The walls went round and round, and they did not fall down! They stood tall and strong. The king was so happy, he named his castle Cổ Loa, which means 'Old Spiral.' To thank the turtle, he promised to always be his friend. Kim Qui gave the king a special gift. He gave him one of his own golden claws. 'Put this on your crossbow,' the turtle said. 'It will make it magic and keep your kingdom safe.'
With the big, strong spiral walls and the magic crossbow, the king and his people were safe and happy. The castle stood tall for a long, long time. The story of the Golden Turtle teaches a happy lesson. It shows that helping a friend is a very special kind of magic. It also shows that listening to good ideas can help you build wonderful things.
