The story

King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table

Greetings. My name is Arthur, and long ago, I was the king of a green and misty land called Britain. My castle, Camelot, was full of brave knights, but I worried that some felt more important than others, so I came up with a special idea to make everyone feel like an equal part of our team. This is the legend of the Knights of the Round Table. After I became king by pulling the magical sword Excalibur from a stone, I knew I couldn't rule alone. The wise wizard Merlin advised me, “Gather the best knights in the land.” These knights weren't just strong; they had to be kind, honest, and always ready to help someone in need. But I wondered how I could make sure they all worked together as friends. I didn’t want them arguing over who was the most important or who got to sit closest to me. I wanted us to be a true team, a family of heroes working together to protect our kingdom and its people.

My problem was solved with a table. But this was no ordinary table. My wife, Queen Guinevere, was given a giant, magnificent table as a wedding gift from her father. It was so big it could seat over one hundred knights, and most importantly, it was perfectly round. A round table has no head, which means no one sits in a more important spot than anyone else. Everyone is equal. I gathered my best knights, like the brave Sir Lancelot and the pure-hearted Sir Galahad, around this amazing table. We made a promise, which we called a code of chivalry, to always be courageous, to protect the weak, and to be fair to all. From our castle of Camelot, my knights went on amazing adventures called quests. They rescued villagers from grumpy giants, bravely faced fire-breathing dragons, and searched for a mysterious and holy cup called the Holy Grail. Whenever they returned, they would share their exciting stories at the Round Table, and we would all celebrate their courage and kindness together as equals.

Our adventures at the Round Table made Camelot a safe and happy kingdom for a long, long time. The stories of our bravery and friendship were told around fireplaces for hundreds of years, passed down from parents to their children. Even though our time as knights has passed, the idea of the Round Table lives on. It reminds people that the best teams are the ones where everyone feels respected and equal, just like friends sharing a pizza where every slice is just as important as the next. The legend of our fellowship never truly ended. Today, the stories of the Knights of the Round Table inspire books, movies, and games, sparking the imagination of new heroes who dream of being brave, fair, and true.
