The story

A Team to Help Animals and Plants

Hello! We are a big team of countries from all over the world. We work together to help nature. Our full name is the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. That’s a very long name! Most people call us by our short name, CITES. Our main job is to protect wild animals and plants everywhere. We want to make sure they are always here for everyone to see and enjoy.

We have very important rules to keep animals and plants safe. Sometimes, people want to buy or sell a special animal or a beautiful flower. Our rules help make sure this is done in a safe way so that none of them disappear forever. These rules are especially important when animals or plants travel from one country to another. We check to make sure their journey is safe and doesn't cause any harm.

We help so many different kinds of living things! We protect thousands of animals and plants. This includes big animals you might know, like strong elephants and beautiful tigers. We also help amazing flowers and very tall trees stay safe in their homes. We work hard every day to do this important job all around the world.

By working together, all the countries in our group can help keep nature wonderful and safe. We help make sure that wild animals can live safely in their homes, like forests and oceans. We help plants grow tall and strong. Our work helps keep the whole world beautiful for everyone.
