The story

A Prize for Helping the World

Hello! We are the Nobel Foundation. Our job is to find people all over the world who are doing wonderful things. We give them a very special award. This award is called a Nobel Prize. We give prizes to people who help make the world a better place for everyone to live in.

Our story started a long time ago with a man named Alfred Nobel. He lived in a faraway country called Sweden. Alfred Nobel was very smart and had a kind heart. When he passed away, he left a special wish. His wish was for his money to be used for something important. He wanted to celebrate people who help others.

Because of his wish, we give out prizes every year. We give a prize to people who learn new things about our world. This is for science. We give a prize to people who write amazing books and stories for everyone to read. We also give a prize to people who work hard to make the world a more peaceful place, where everyone can be friends.

When we give someone a Nobel Prize, we also give them a special gold medal. The medal is shiny and round. It shows how much we thank them for their work. Every year, we keep Alfred Nobel’s wish alive by finding new helpers and celebrating them. We love saying "thank you" to people who make our world brighter.
