The story

A Story from the Heart of Europe

The wind whispers through my big, green forests where wise old bison live and play. A long, sparkling river, called the Vistula, tickles my middle as it flows all the way to the sea. In the summertime, friendly storks come to visit. They build cozy nests on my rooftops and chatter all day long. Their nests are like little hats on top of my houses. I am a land full of wonders and happy sounds. Can you guess who I am? I am Poland.

My story started a very, very long time ago. In the year 966, a kind leader named Mieszko I helped bring all my people together like one big, happy family. He was very special to me. Many amazing people have called me their home. One was named Nicolaus Copernicus. He loved to look up at the night sky. He watched the stars and learned that our Earth loves to dance in a big circle around the sun. My people are very brave and have always worked together to help me shine. They were so happy on a special day, November 11th, 1918, when everyone celebrated together.

Today, I am a happy home full of fun and laughter. My cities, like Warsaw and Kraków, are painted with bright colors. They are filled with sweet music and the yummy smell of pierogi dumplings cooking in warm kitchens. In my green parks, you can hear children playing and families sharing stories and big hugs. I am a happy place full of history and hope. I love it when friends from all over the world come to visit and listen to my stories. I have so many more to share with you.
