A Guide to Using the Toilet

The first step in using the toilet is noticing when my body tells me it's time to go. I feel it in my belly, a special signal that lets me know I need to poop or pee. It is very important for me to listen to this feeling and not hold it in for too long. Holding it in can make my tummy hurt, and that isn't healthy for my body. Going to the bathroom when I need to helps my body get rid of waste, which keeps me feeling comfortable and well.

When I get to the bathroom, I always close the door so I can have privacy. After I pull my pants down, I sit on the toilet seat. When I am all finished, the next important step is to wipe myself clean. I take a few squares of toilet paper and always wipe from front to back. Wiping this way helps to keep me clean and prevents germs from spreading to places they shouldn't be. After I am done wiping, I drop the used toilet paper into the toilet bowl. Then, I pull my pants back up and push the handle or button to flush everything away. I always watch to make sure the toilet flushes completely before I leave the stall or the bathroom.

My job isn't done until I've washed my hands. This is the most important final step because germs can be on my hands even if I can't see them. First, I turn on the water and get my hands wet. Then, I use soap to make a lot of bubbles, which helps lift the germs off my skin. I scrub the front and back of my hands, get in between my fingers, and clean under my nails. I do this for about 20 seconds, which is about the same amount of time it takes to sing the 'Happy Birthday' song twice. After scrubbing, I rinse all the soap and germs off with clean running water and dry my hands completely. This step is super important because it stops germs from getting on my food or spreading to other people, which helps everyone stay healthy.

Using the toilet the right way is a big part of taking care of myself and my health. It keeps my body working properly by getting rid of waste that it doesn't need. Wiping correctly from front to back and washing my hands well are two key actions that stop harmful germs that can make me and other people sick. Following these steps is a simple habit, but it has a huge impact on staying healthy and strong. This means I can keep playing, learning, and having fun without getting sick.
