The story

The Storyteller of Greece

Hello. My name is Homer. I lived a very, very long time ago in a sunny, beautiful place called Greece. More than anything in the world, I loved to tell stories. I would gather people together and tell them exciting tales about brave heroes, powerful gods and goddesses, and incredible adventures on land and sea.

I am famous for two very long and exciting stories that people still tell today. One is called the Iliad. It is about a great big war outside a city called Troy. It has a super brave and strong hero named Achilles. My other famous story is called the Odyssey. That one is about a clever hero named Odysseus who has to sail across the sea for a very long time to get back home to his family. On his way, he meets a giant with one eye and faces many other tricky challenges.

I lived many, many years ago, but my stories are still here for you to enjoy. People all over the world read books and watch movies about the heroes from my imagination. I am so happy that my tales of courage and adventure still make people smile and dream. Isn't it wonderful how a good story can be shared forever?
