The story

The Big Tumble of the Money Tower

Imagine everyone is building a super-tall tower with their favorite blocks. In a time called the Roaring Twenties, it felt just like that. People were happy, music was jazzy, and everyone thought the tower of money would just get higher and higher. I was the feeling of everything going up. But what happens if a tower gets too wobbly? That was me. I am the Stock Market Crash of 1929, and I was a big, surprising tumble.

The tower was built with special pieces called 'stocks,' which are tiny parts of big companies. In the 1920s, everyone wanted more and more pieces, and they paid a lot for them. But on a day called Black Tuesday, October 29th, 1929, people suddenly got scared. They worried the tower was too high. Everyone tried to sell their pieces all at once. It was like everyone trying to get through a tiny door at the same time. The pieces weren't worth as much anymore, and just like that, the big tower of money tumbled down.

My tumble was sad and made things hard for many people for a long time. That time was called the Great Depression. But do you know what happens after you fall down? You learn how to get up and be more careful. People learned a lot from me. They made new rules to make sure the money tower is built on a strong, steady floor. Now, we have special helpers to watch the tower and make sure it doesn't get too wobbly again. I was a big lesson that helps people build safer and stronger futures for everyone.

About

The sudden and severe collapse of stock market prices in the United States in late October 1929 was a significant event that contributed to the onset of the Great Depression. However, it did not immediately signal its beginning. The Great Depression began after the stock market collapse in late October 1929, but the real trigger was widespread bank failures that started in 1930.
